WAHMZONE: How long have you been with this company and what made you decide to join?

DARLENE DEMELL: I have been with Watkins for over 9 years now but Watkins has always been a part of my life. While I was growing up, the Watkins man lived two doors from us and I can remember him coming in and setting his products on the table. I loved the smells of everything. When my friend introduced me to the Watkins opportunity years later, I knew this was the business for me. Since then, I have never looked back and only wish I had started long before I did.

WAHMZONE: Tell us a little about the company and what your job consists of:

DARLENE: Watkins was started back in 1868 by J.R. Watkins. His first product was the Red Liniment, which we still carry today. J.R. Watkins introduced the first ever money back guarantee for all direct sales companies. We have almost 400 products in our line and more new products to come very soon.

I sell Watkins products to customers and also sign up anyone interested in joining my team. I then train them for the business. I love what I do and try to show everyone how great this opportunity is and how they can benefit from having their own Watkins business.

WAHMZONE: How many hours do you work per week, on average, including all aspects of the job:

DARLENE: In an average week, I would say I put in approximately 30 hours. This involves my online and offline advertising, training my Associates, working my business blogs, and just corresponding with people. Sometimes it's less, and there are no set hours we have to work. Watkins is our own business to work as we see fits our lifestyle. We can make money with Watkins working 10 hours a week or 30 or more. It's entirely up to us and how much we want to earn.

WAHMZONE: What is the Company Payment Plan/Incentive Program & your personal average weekly income:

DARLENE: Watkins has one of the best compensation plans for any direct sale business.

WAHMZONE: What is your favorite part of the job?

DARLENE: My favorite part of the job is meeting new people. I love seeing their excitement when they find out that Watkins is still around. I love that I can make my own hours. I also love the money I am able to earn from home and always look forward to the new products Watkins keeps introducing.

WAHMZONE: How about the most challenging part of the job?

DARLENE: Right now the most challenging part of the job for me is trying to come up with new ideas for ads when I advertise the business. I like to come up with something new every so often and it takes me a while to do that. Other than that, I can't say there is anything really challenging with Watkins.

Creative Online Advertising Ideas

Are you looking for creative ways to market your home business online? If so, check out some of the ideas below.

#1. Write some short articles and donated them to online websites, ezines, newsletters and to online blogs.

These articles can be on family life, business, crafts, cooking, hobbies or any topic matter that you would like to write about. Make sure your article has an attached signature tag with your name, business name and website address attached to the bottom of your original article.

#2. Attach an email signature tag to each piece of email that you send out to others.

#3. Write a free blog! Blogging is very hot these days! A blog is basically an online journal and you can write on a variety of topics, both personal and business topics.

#4. Get yourself listed on online telephone yellow page websites. Make sure your listing is under your business name.

#5. Get some listings and advertising on Online Gift and Shopping Directories.

#6. There are a lot of online local, city and statewide business directories for your local area. Do some research and get some listings on websites that are local to you.

#7. If you offer an online contest on your website, make sure you get some FREE listings on Contest & Sweepstakes Directories type of websites.

#8. Online talk radio is very popular these days. Contact those online talk radio sites and inquire about advertising or donating your time and knowledge to be a online talk radio show guest. This is great business exposure for you!

#9. If you can afford it, get some advertising on one of the numerous online radio stations.

#10. Do an online web search for local area radio station websites. Your local radio stations are always looking for product donations for their numerous on-air and off-air contests. Donate a prize or gift certificate and get some great business exposure.

#11. Do an online web search for your local television news station websites. Again, they are always holding contests and need prize donations.

#12. Start an online newsletter for your business. I recommend sending a newsletter via email once a month to your subscribers. You will get more subscribers to your newsletter if you publish informational content within it along with 2-3 product or service specials that you offer. These days, readers want information that they can use in their daily lives. They don't want to be spammed with nothing but product specials so keep that in mind while doing a newsletter.

#13. Online gift certificates are big business these days. Make sure you offer offline and online gift certificates to your customers and clients.

#14. Get yourself listed in online search engines. You can start out with the free lesser known search engines and then work up to the well known search engines such as www.google.com and www.yahoo.com

#15. Do a web search for local area message boards and online networking groups. Get to know others who live around you, this is key to local networking. Those in your community need to know about you! You can also contact those message board owners and find out if they offer banner advertising across the top of their message boards, if they do, its usually very affordable.

#16. Ask your online friends and family members to attach your email signature tag to all of their outgoing emails. Give them a free gift or discount for helping you out.

#17. There are a lot of FREE online classified ad websites. I ONLY recommend you do the ones that are HIGHLY ranked in the search engines and ones that have great reputations.

#18. Link Exchange! Contact other website owners and offer to exchange weblinks with them. You will put their website link on your webpage and vice versa. This helps to get your online link count up. The more quality links pointing to your website, the higher you will be in search engine listings.

#19. If you business offers a Bridal Gift Registry, make sure you get some listings and advertising on the thousands of online bridal registry directories and wedding websites.
