JUNE FEATURED WAHM
This month's featured Wahm is Betsy Fava, an independent beauty consultant with Jafra Cosmetics. If you're looking for a well-established and lucrative direct sales business and are interested in the beauty industry, you may want to check out what this company has to offer.
WAHMZONE: Betsy, how long have you been with Jafra and what made you decide to join?
BETSY FAVA: This is my 15th year with Jafra. I joined for two reasons. One, I simply love the product and, two: I was ready to leave a full time job and wanted to build a business of my very own.
WZ: Tell us a little about the company and what your job consists of.
BETSY: Jafra is a direct selling business that has been in existence for 53 years. It offers high quality and unique skin and body care products primarily for women, but there are products for the entire family. I am an independent consultant and a manager. I teach good skin care habits and make-up techniques, as well as spa classes for body care and relaxation
WZ: How many hours do you work per week, on average, including all aspects of the job?
BETSY: 6-8 hours
WZ: What is the Company Payment Plan/Incentive Program & your personal average weekly income?
BETSY: Jafra pays me 50% commission on all my sales, and 10% override on all branch sales, including my own. This amounts to around $100 per week.
WZ: How do you market your business and get new clients?
BETSY: Primarily word of mouth. Since I only work my business part time I do mainly re-orders and personal consultations. I get new clients by sharing Jafra with people I meet.
WZ: What is your favorite part of the job?
BETSY: Helping women feel good about themselves and encouraging them to be the best they can be. When a woman looks her best, it's easier to feel and do her best.
WZ: How about the biggest challenge?
BETSY: Keeping my branch going and encouraging the consultants under me to make the most of this business opportunity.
WZ: Why should other moms consider looking into working for Jafra?
BETSY: Jafra offers a tremendous business opportunity for women. It pays the absolute highest rate of commission with a minimum investment, and offers many sales and sponsoring incentives (gifts and trips). The company stands behind every product, so you can present it with confidence. Excellent training is available at all levels.

JUNE FEATURED ARTICLE
In her interview above, Betsy mentioned that the most challenging part of her job consists of keeping her branch going. This month's article deals with this issue and offers a few tips for keeping your team motivated and successful.
Direct Sales Tips: How to Motivate your Team
By Jane Deuber
It is a well-known fact that managers who focus on the number of shows being held by their team have higher monthly sales. By learning early in the month how many shows are already on the books, you will discover how you can support your team members to achieve more success.
For example, a team with lots of shows scheduled will need guidance on hostess coaching and reducing postponements. On the other hand, a team with fewer shows may need a short-term booking challenge or ideas on how to schedule shows.
Here are just a few ideas for coaching your team:
1. Be informed. Prior to the first of the month, ask each team member to share how many shows they have booked. Give lots of appreciation and praise and offer guidance on how to book additional shows.
2. Offer a booking challenge. Challenge each Consultant to ask for a booking from five people every day for one week and watch her schedule fill. Because this challenge depends on the "honor system" keep your reward small but give it with lots of praise.
3. Reward results. Offer a "Consistency Award" to anyone on your team who holds one show a week for two consecutive months. These are potential stars.
4. Get the bigger picture! Record your team's shows on one big show calendar! This helps you project group sales and provide support to help ensure their success.
5. Know your team show average. Helping your team members increase their show average is just as important as helping them book more shows. Since hostess coaching has the greatest impact on sales, ask Consultants to complete a Hostess Coaching Checklist for every show.
6. Emphasize sponsoring. Take advantage of the fabulous recruiting opportunities at shows by challenging your team to discuss the opportunity during their presentation and then offer it to every guest while writing up their order. Make sponsoring a natural part of your team's shows and you will soon see results!
7. Lead by example. This is perhaps the most important tip we can offer because your team will follow your lead when it comes to holding shows and sponsoring. Be sure you are setting a good example by consistently holding shows of your own!
